Slake’s frontperson Mary Claire finished recording an LP in upstate New York last summer with the band
Babehoven - it was mixed by Melina Duterte from
Jay Som and
Boygenius and was mastered by
Greg Obis at
Chicago Mastering Services. Their recent work has transitioned from their early self-titled indie rock days to something more "lesbian doom-folk". The new album was released in June 2025 on
Cherub Dream Records, and they released their debut
single in March. Their ethereal and earnest live set pulls a diverse audience and their newly recorded, unreleased LP is an experimental singer-songwriter-y expansion from their previous self-recorded world. They're comparable to Lomelda, Jessica Pratt, Chelsea Wolfe, Mitski, Jenny Hval, and Squirrel Flower. They’ve shared the stage with Sasami, Flooding, Maria BC, Babehoven, Hemlock, Cryogeyser, and more. The project was formerly known as “Mary Claire” and has been active for years in the California music environment. Their second LP is in the process of being recorded along their tour stops all over the United States in Summer of 2026.
