The Calling
The Calling
Alex Band’s powerful, emotionally charged voice is immediately recognizable to millions of music lovers, thanks to his band, The Calling’s 2001 chart-topping hit “Wherever You Will Go.” The song remained #1 on the charts for a record 23 weeks, has been featured in numerous movies and TV shows including Love Actually, Coyote Ugly, Smallville and Kate and Leopold, and received the honor of being named the #1 Song Of The Decade and the #3 Song Of All Time according to Billboard’s Adult Pop Chart.
Their debut album, Camino Palmero was an international hit, selling more than five million copies worldwide and certified Gold and/or Platinum in over 40 countries.
Before The Calling made their second album, Alex was fortunate enough to be able to work with guitar legend, Carlos Santana, singing the hit song, “Why Don’t You and I,” which was named the #5 Song Of The Decade according to Billboard’s Adult Pop Chart and #20 Adult Pop Song Of All Time.
The Calling followed up Camino Palmero with their second album in 2004, titled Two, for its two founding members. Aaron Kamin had left the band before the album was released, leaving just one, Alex Band.
Two’s lead single, “Our Lives” was featured in the closing ceremonies of the 2004 Summer Olympics and was also the opening song of the 78th Academy Awards.
The Calling was then put on hold while Alex Band wrote and recorded under his own name, simultaneously dealing with music industry changes and dedicating himself to his personal and family life.
Alex Band has spent the last several years navigating an ever-changing music industry. From guest starring in TV Shows such as CSI: NY, to writing and producing the theme song, “Tonight”, for the 2011 World Cup. Alex is currently with the band working a new record that is promised to be their most diverse collection to date.
The Calling is returning in 2018 and is excited to welcome back our majorly talented guitar player, Daniel Damico and amazing new drummer, Daniel Thomson.
