Taj Mahal

Composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Taj Mahal is one of the most prominent and influential figures in late 20th century blues and roots music. Though his career began more than four decades ago with American blues, he has broadened his artistic scope over the years to include music representing virtually every corner of the world – west Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, the Hawaiian islands and so much more. What ties it all together is his insatiable interest in musical discovery. Over the years, his passion and curiosity have led him around the world, and the resulting global perspective is reflected in his music.
Bhi Bhiman
“What a voice” –The New York Times
“This is joyous sensory overload.” –Time Magazine
“First-rate, folk-based and undeniably unique.” –The Washington Post

Bhiman is an American singer/songwriter. His music has been compared to artists ranging from Bill Withers and Nina Simone to Rodriguez and Woody Guthrie. Serving up catchy riffs colored by wry, often subversive lyrics, it's Bhiman's voice that truly sets him apart - a rich, bellowing tenor that can sooth or explode at a moment's notice.

His debut album, BHIMAN, was released independently to critical acclaim - including a performance on The BBC's Later w/ Jools Holland. There he met one of his early musical heroes, Chris Cornell. Impressed by Bhiman's performance, Cornell asked him to open eight weeks of sold out dates across North America. Other highlights from the past two years include a lauded performance at Carnegie Hall as well as co-writing and recording with a range of artists from Stax legend William Bell to radical hip hop group The Coup.

In May, Bhiman will release his followup LP, Rhythm & Reason. The album is a progression towards his soul and R&B influences yet maintains the singer/songwriter tradition for which Bhiman is known.
