New Orleans Bingo! Show

Since its inception in 2002, The New Orleans Bingo! Show has existed as the very epitome of the band that could only be born of the Crescent City. Weaving together the rich musical heritage of New Orleans’ storied past with a punk rock commitment to bucking convention, The New Orleans Bingo! Show frames the exquisite songwriting and impeccable musical chops of multi-instrumental vocalist and frontman Clint Maedgen in a back-alley Brechtian cabaret, complete with leering clowns, dangerous games of chance, and ill-advised romance. Alternately described as “a link between the old music to come and the mysterious funhouse atmosphere that continues in New Orleans” (New York Times), "a ludicrous amalgamation of rock and bingo led by showmen with facepaint and a theremin” (The Chicago Tribune), and “a wild nightmare hiding in a heart-shaped box of chocolates” (Clint Maedgen), The New Orleans Bingo! Show is proud to bring its unique brand of French Quarter chaos to The Independent in San Francisco alongside bay-area songstress Kim Boekbinder (Vermillion Lies) on Friday, August 20, 2010.

Kim Boekbinder (Vermillion Lies)

The Impossible Girl - Album Launch Celebration

Kim "Vermillion" Boekbinder has your heart. She stole it in the future and has traveled back in time to make sure you remember how to fall in love with the world. Her songs range from murderous waltzes to epic pop ballads, from country sing-a-longs to sonic sculptures. She usually plays electric guitar, but is also keen on making noise with ukulele, accordion, piano, and squeaky toys. She spent the last five years touring with her internationally acclaimed band,Vermillion Lies. She just finished recording her first solo album that's hooked artistic luminaries such as Neil Gaiman, Rosanne Cash, Molly Crabapple and her album's producer - the legendary, Sean Slade (Radiohead, The Dresden Dolls.)
