Calling Santa Barbara home, Cool Water Canyon played their first show in 1995, and quickly became a staple in the west-coast music scene.In June 1998 the band released its first full-length studio album. Cool Water Canyon was voted "Best Local Band" by UC Santa Barbara students three consecutive years (1998-2000).The band was also one of 150 bands featured in Dean Budnick’s book Jam Bands: North Americas Hottest Live Groups. The second album released by Cool Water Canyon, "Far From Home”, is a two CD set featuring twenty tracks that has been well received, and serves as a telling display of the bands strength as songwriters. The band describes itself as high-energy rock n roll, with influences ranging from jazz and funk to rhythm and blues. The band played its final two sellout shows at the Great American Music Hall and Slim’s in San Francisco in 2001. The show at the Independent on Saturday represents the first time Cool Water Canyon will share the stage together for a one-night only reunion.
